The IBM Think Pad T21 succeeds the popular
IBM ThinkPad 600 line. The new IBM ThinkPad
T21 notebook offers features and options
that are common with the ThinkPad A20p and
A20m. Features include the (Ultraport),
Ultrabay 2000, and ThinkLight on selected
models. Options such as memory, port replication,
and docking are available.
The T21 has a sleek form of about 33.1
mm (1.3 inches) thin and optimal travel
configurations weighing 2.1 kg (4.6 lbs).
Its dimensions are 304 mm (12.0 inches)
x 250 mm (9.8 inches). The new titanium
composite cover provides strength and durability.
All IBM T21 models will come with an UltraPort
connector found on the edge of the top panel.
This new innovative port supports an optional
digital camera, and supports power-management
functions required by Bluetooth. The port's
location ensures optimal performance for
both applications.

TrackPoint with enhanced features
The keyboard has the familiar layout of
a ThinkPad notebook with function keys that
allow you to quickly access system functions
such as power management
The ThinkPad T21 system is euro hardware
ready (EMEA models only).
The TrackPoint with enhanced features incorporates
the Press-to-Select and Release-to-Select
function. Just tap the TrackPoint to speed
icon launches and help reduce key strokes.
The new programmable center button enables
fast scrolling of Web sites and documents
or fast panning across wide spreadsheets.
Switch to the innovative magnifying glass
feature to enlarge screen views in any application.
Processor
Mobile Pentium III at 650 MHz, 700 MHz or
750 MHz depending on model, plus 256 KB
of onboard cache, and floating-point decimal
provide exceptional performance.

ThinkPad T21 Memory
The system has 128 MB of memory standard
and can be configured for up to 512 MB of
addressable memory. Memory options up to
256 MB SDRAM SO DIMMs each can be added
in the two available slots for memory expansion.

ThinkPad T21 PC Card
The Type III slot accommodates either two
Type I, two Type II, or one Type III PC
card. The slot supports the CardBus adapters,
PC card, and the Zoomed Video (ZV) adapter.
Currently available in Microsof Windows
95, Microsoft Windows 98, and Microsoft
Windows 2000 Professional.

T21 Storage
The customer-removable, upgradable hard
drive is 6.0 GB standard on the CD-ROM models
and 12 GB standard on the DVD models. The
ability to add an optional SuperDisk (LS120),
drive, or a second hard drive in the Ultrabay
2000 provides expanded storage. The second
hard drive option, requiring an adapter,
can be used with all ThinkPad T21 models.
The 1.44 MB diskette drive (FDD) can be
plugged directly into the ThinkPad T21 Ultrabay
2000 or attached externally for added flexibility.
The optional cable and adapter are available
through IBM Accessories.

ThinkPad T21 Audio
Full-duplex audio on the system board and
the integrated microphone allow voice annotation
and audio. The system is equipped with audio
in/out jacks for stereo speakers, headphone,
or external microphone. The system supports
Sound Blaster audio applications.

ThinkPad T21 Video
Models with Windows 98 Second Edition support
a system display and an external monitor
simultaneously while different applications
are on each screen. Move the cursor from
one screen to the other and drag and drop
items from the application on one screen
to the application on the second screen.

ThinkPad T21 Infrared
The system has one fast IR transceiver (up
to 4 Mbps) for wireless file and data transfer
and printing. The ThinkPad T21 is designed
for compliance with the Infrared Data Association
(IrDA) IR data link specification Version
1.1.
